Tribulation Time Pt. 2 #TraditionallySouthside

When we started this journey several weeks ago, I gave you the Timeline of everything that will happen according to my understanding of the prophecies of both the Old and New Testaments. Rather than go back over the horrors of the Tribulation where as many as 3/4 of the worlds’ population will die, I suggest that you go online to or click on the Audio Sermons link on this site where you can watch the video or listen to the audio of the sermon from July 19. In this series of posts, I want to give you what I believe will be the spiritual results of God’s judgment on the Earth.

First, I want you to see that what I believe to be The Greatest Spiritual Awakening to ever take place will happen on planet Earth following the Rapture of the Church. Depending on which expert you follow, there have been either three or four Great Awakenings, and all have occurred since the 18th Century. Most people refer to these as revivals, but truthfully, that term carries too much baggage because of what we call revivals today — a series of meetings where we sing, listen to messages and go home. Sadly, revival takes place in only a very few of these meetings. So I choose to refer to these events as Awakenings because Christians were truly awakened to the truth of their situation and motivated to reach out to lost people. These events were more than meetings; they changed the world.

Each of these awakenings was characterized by a profound sense of conviction that resulted in true repentance of sin characterized by actions demonstrating repentance resulting in numerous salvations as well as a revived church. You see, when true revival takes place, it’s more than just a meeting. Lives are transformed to the point that people want to make things right. They mend relationships, make restitution, and humble themselves before others.

I love to tell the stories of these awakenings where entire police forces had nothing to do because crime dropped to nothing, so they formed quartets and went around singing in the revival services. Or how the miners had to retrain their mules because when the miners got saved, their vocabulary changed so drastically that the mules no longer recognized the commands. Historians tell us that large percentages of the population were transformed in each of these awakenings because the power of the Holy Spirit was free to work in the lives of believers.

But if the church has been Raptured prior to the Tribulation, where do the believers come from after the Rapture? Who’s going to preach the gospel when the church is gone? I believe that it’s going to happen this way: The greatest spiritual awakening ever to take place will result in the salvation of: Unsaved church members who are left behind will realize that the rapture has occurred and get saved. Unsaved family members who are left behind are going to desperately search for their loved ones and realize that because of their commitment to Jesus, they were taken into heaven. Jews from all over the world are going to realize what happened and will be saved. That will result in proclamation of the gospel. In fact, I believe that the 144,000 mentioned in Rev 7 are going to be Jewish men, saved by God and sealed for the purpose of going throughout the world to proclaim the gospel. And I believe that multitudes are going to come to grips with their sins because of the convicting power of the Holy Spirit, and turn from their wicked ways to accept Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior. Look over at Rev. 7:9-14 where John describes a great multitude which no one could number saved out of the Great Tribulation. This is the very definition of a Great Awakening.
